I grew up in a family environment where music, art, sports and politics were encouraged and celebrated. These combined influences informed my imagination then, and continue to do so now.
Since my early childhood, I've had an interest in making and creating. I was fortunate enough to go to a secondary school that had a very good arts and crafts department. This was fantastic for me because I had the opportunity to learn about textiles, painting, drawing, lino-cutting, silk-screen printing, metal and woodwork. I was in my element!
So, given the above, it seemed naturual for me to follow a creative path after completing my schooling. However, my aptitude for computers led to a career in Administration and IT... and so, I immersed myself in the technical world for many years, and my art took a 'back seat'. Although, I did practice my art from time to time as a hobby.
Then came the time when redundancy was looming and I was feeling ambivalent about continuing in Administration and IT as a profession. Something was missing. I knew I hadn't reached my full creative potential. It was time for a change and it was time for me to do what I had always wanted to do; and that was to pursue my art interests. So, that's what I did. I launched my website in September 2014. Since then I've had one exhibition and sold several paintings. As well as painting, which is my primary practice, I create designs for reproduction on gift tags and greeting cards. Every year I make a collection of Christmas cards and Christmas gift tags. I produce and print these myself.
My work is developing, so watch this space!
